A PROVOST’s right-hand man has kept his job – despite being convicted yesterday of slapping a female colleague’s rear end.
Margaret Shankland felt “completely humiliated” when she was smacked by heavyweight council officer George Scott Muir.
Margaret – a committee clerk – was attacked as they waited for a lift at North Lanarkshire Council’s HQ in Motherwell.
Muir, 51, admitted the assault in court but is still in his job. His duties include carrying Provost James Robertson’s chain of office during official ceremonies.
