Web shock coming for public servants

CIVIL servants have been wasting taxpayers’ money by shopping or booking holidays online instead of concentrating on their work.

A check on the websites visited most regularly by staff at the Department for Work and Pensions has shown the majority are not relevant to their jobs.

The most commonly accessed sites at DWP work stations are the search engine Google and the BBC website, but the online shopping sites for Argos, Littlewoods and Amazon also figure prominently in the top 30 sites viewed. Argos.co.uk rose to number seven in the number of hits for last November and then number six in December, suggesting use for Christmas shopping.

My comment: Can't wait for similar Freedom of Information requests to be made to councils by the hundreds of interested parties around the country.
