Former Canterbury City Council Councillor pleaded guilty to five counts of sexual assault

A paedophile who compared his catalogue of indecent images and explicit stories about children to works of art was jailed for 15 months today.

Former councillor [and Sheriff] Martin Fisher, 61, told police after he was arrested: "Some people like Picasso. I like pictures of children with no clothes on."

Indecent images of children and paedophilic stories downloaded from the internet were found on his home and business computers.

Fisher, who sat as a Conservative councillor on Canterbury City Council, pleaded guilty to five counts of sexual assault, three of which were on a girl aged under 13.

He also admitted 11 counts of possessing and making indecent images of children, and he was jailed at Canterbury Crown Court, Kent Police said.

In addition to his 15-month jail term, Fisher will spend 10 years on the sex offenders' register.

My comment: Quote: "Child sex offenders often use a position of power or authority to intimidate their victims not to report the abuse and try to convince them they would not be believed." Det Ch Insp Paul Duhig, Cumbria Police. More here.
