British Transport Police worker who fraudulently spent £82,000

A manager with British Transport Police was facing jail today after after admitting defrauding the force’s expenses system to spend £82,000 on five-star holidays.

Louise Micklewright, 30, paid for herself and friends to stay at top London hotels including the Ritz, and travelled by first-class rail to cities including Edinburgh and Manchester.

As a trusted meetings manager, she was able to book so many trips she ended up selling them on the listings website Gumtree, as she could not use all of them herself.

The force has now revised its authorisation procedures.

My comment: I bet they have but will the taxpayer get any of their money back? In addition, the taxpayer is probably going to have to fund her next holiday...in prison.
