Paramedic struck off for groping patient

A paramedic has been struck off for groping a young woman as she lay unconscious in the back of an ambulance.

Robert Steadman, 45, was spotted by a colleague in a rear-view mirror repeatedly fondling the 35-year-old during a journey to hospital. He was cleared of sexual assault following a trial at Exeter Crown Court in Devon last April, claiming the allegations were ‘ridiculous’.

But the Health Professions Council found the paramedic had opened the woman's legs to expose her thighs and touched her groin.

My comment: And the judge/jury at Exeter Crown Court didn't think this was a sexual assault?
