Huhne facing police probe

The driver who allegedly helped Chris Huhne dodge a ban by taking the blame for a speeding offence is his estranged wife. Detectives will today review evidence in what could become a criminal inquiry.

Essex Police are expected to announce today that they will launch a formal investigation after receiving a complaint by a Labour MP.

Both Mr Huhne and 57-year-old Miss Pryce face questioning over the claim that he persuaded her to take his penalty points to avoid him being banned under the totting-up procedure.

If the allegations are proved, Mr Huhne could be guilty of perverting the course of justice. Legal experts said a case of this type would be expected to attract a sentence of three to six months.

My comment: Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.

UPDATE 22/5/11: After finding out that his ex wife can prove her license has three points for a speeding offence on the 12th March 2003 and that she wasn't in the area at the time, Chris Huhne now states he may have driven the car.

My comment: He should resign and prepare for jail :)
