AN advert offering £500 a day to be a temporary spin doctor at Essex County Council was not meant to be published, the authority insists. The council appeared to advertise for an interim head of communications for six months.
The role had been criticised by Brentwood MP Eric Pickles, Secretary of State for Local Government, and Colchester MP Bob Russell, who said it was not right to spend up to £71,000 on a spin doctor when services were being cut and jobs axed.
But a spokesman at Essex County Council said the “rogue” advert had been published in error by the authority’s recruitment agency. She added: “Essex County Council has no plans to recruit an interim head of communications.
My comment: Rogue advert? Having read their feeble excuse I think they actually need a spin doctor.
