Councils paying 26 suspended workers

Twenty six council staff in the Black Country and Staffordshire have been suspended on full pay, costing taxpayers tens of thousands of pounds in wages, it can be revealed today.

One worker at Dudley Council has been off pending an investigation for more than a year, while another at Wolverhampton City Council has been absent for five months.

My comment: Over a year appears to be an inordinate length of time to conduct an investigation but there again it's only taxpayer's money.
