Portsmouth councillor failed to mention lucrative job as a consultant

A SENIOR Lib Dem councillor looking into her authority’s spiralling consultancy bill failed to declare she was getting paid at the time – as a consultant.

Scrutiny management committee chairwoman Cheryl Buggy was asked to examine whether the mushrooming consultancy bill should be slashed.

Now she faces calls for an investigation after it emerged that at the time she chaired the probe she had a training contract with Portsmouth City Council.

The review was launched after the council’s consultancy bill rose from £4million to more than £5million in two years. In its conclusions the committee said the council should set up an internal site for staff to “advertise their skills” but it warned against cutting back consultancy.

My comment: They just don't get it do they?
