A SWANSEA Valley council has been criticised after co-opting a member who had once falsely claimed to hold a PhD.
Members of Clydach Community Council this week chose Peter Morgan to take over the position of councillor for the Craigfelen ward, following the resignation last month of political veteran Sylvia Lewis after 25 years of service.
The former councillor, who handed in her notice over concerns about the authority's finances and the way it was run, criticised the council for their choice of replacement because of Craigfelen resident Mr Morgan's personal history.
Mr Morgan had been forced to resign as secretary of the Clydach Labour Party in 1997 after he admitted falsely claiming to hold a PhD, which he used on official Labour Party letters signed by him.
My comment: What next, a contestant on 'I'm a celebrity' with a food down his underpants.
