Bungling police threaten unborn baby with ASBO

A woman about to give birth to her first child was left bewildered after Lincolnshire police sent a letter threatening her unborn baby with an ASBO. Charlotte Childs, who is 36 weeks pregnant, and her husband Damien were invited to attend a meeting with local police to discuss their son's bad behaviour.

The letter was addressed to the parents or guardians of the boy and accused him of being one of a group of youths running riot in the area. To add to the confusion, the letter, which was dated 8th April, also asked the couple to attend a meeting on 28th March.

The mix-up has been blamed on a clerical error by Lincolnshire council.

My comment: Mistakes do happen but what if the Police had broken down the door in the middle of the night because they thought the unborn baby was armed and dangerous? This could have easily happened if any of the youths were seen carrying a weapon. Especially since the couple did not attend the arranged meeting with the Police on the 28th March because they didn't get the letter until the 8th April.
