Manchester City Council slashes £109m... but fails to collect its taxes

A Labour council accused of making ‘politically-motivated budget cuts’ was named and shamed last night as the worst in the country for collecting its council tax.

Manchester City Council failed to collect almost a tenth of its council tax revenue last year, costing it £11.1million.

It tops a list of the ten worst performers in the country, which are all either Labour-controlled or run by Labour-led coalitions. Across England, the total amount of uncollected council tax is a staggering £1.1billion.

My comment: Councils playing politics with people's jobs.
