Councillor blasted for playing Sudoku during key debate

A CITY councillor came under fire from his own group leader today after he was caught playing Sudoku for three hours during a City Chambers debate he was meant to take part in.

Eric Barry, a Labour councillor, was filmed trying to complete the puzzle in the City Chambers as debate raged around him on the issue of The Gathering, the 2009 Holyrood Park event that left dozens of businesses with debts totalling £344,000 after the collapse of the company that organised it.

He was filmed from the upstairs gallery in the main council chamber, where meetings of the full council are held. The video has now been posted on YouTube.

My Comment: Cllr Barry, is paid a salary of £16,234 to play Sudoku. This lot think they should get a 16% pay rise as well.
