A CASH-strapped council spent £19,000 on a magician to boost staff morale weeks after announcing £1.4million in cuts.
Conservative run Cotswold District Council used taxpayers’ money to pay for Shay McConnon to give online “motivational talks”.
The speaker, a member of the Magic Circle, uses conjuring skills to help people feel better about themselves and avoid conflict at work.
But Charlotte Linacre, from the TaxPayers’ Alliance, said: “It is ridiculous that staff are indulged on such courses when big savings need to be made.”
Yet the council’s chief executive David Neudegg last night insisted the motivational programme, put together by Mr McConnon, was a success.
